ARCC Linton: The lightest longtail electric cargo bike
Switching to a family electric cargo bike means you can stop worrying about traffic, parking and storage. Starting from just 24kg, the Linton is 10kg lighter than the Tern GSD and even 9kg lighter than a Lime hire bike. That lightness means you don’t have to worry. You can store it where you want, take it up and down steps, or in and out of cars and trains, whenever you need to. It also makes riding the Linton feel just like riding a regular bike. Find out for yourself by booking a free test ride.
An electric cargo bike light enough to fit into your life
The Linton is the only electric family cargo bike which is entirely designed and manufactured in the UK. Some companies offer ‘Made in the UK’ bikes, but these are assembled in the UK using imported frames and electronics. Our lightweight chromoly steel frames are hand-built in our factory just outside the beautiful city of Cambridge, alongside our Intelligent Drive System (IDS2). We carefully combine these together, alongside premium components like powerful MAGURA hydraulic disc brakes and a clean, oil-free Gates Carbon Belt Drive, to create each Linton.
A car-replacing e-cargo bike entirely made in the UK
A customisable longtail cargo bike for you and your family
Fully loaded to the maximum gross weight capacity of 200kg, the Linton offers an elegant, car alternative that can comfortably manage heavy loads and everyday family use. A wide range of stainless-steel accessories make your Linton a perfect fit for your family. From safety rails, grab handles and footplates, to three different designs of front rack, the cargo capacity of the Linton can be adapted to suit your every need while retaining its ride quality and ease of use.
We’ve also made sure to make the Linton compatible with common front and rear mounted child seats, so you can carry up to three kids from nine months upwards. As your family grows, you can swap out accessories to reconfigure your Linton so it is always a great fit, and has a life well beyond the school run.
Bosch performance: Smaller and safer e-bike batteries
Instead of heavy electric bikes with expensive, specialist batteries, ARCC’s in-house designed and manufactured Intelligent Drive System (IDS2) uses Bosch 36V professional power tool batteries. Each of these weighs just 1.3kg, provides up to 15 miles of range and, using Bosch’s own fast charger, fully charges in under an hour. Most comparable electric cargo bikes use batteries weighing 4 or 5kg, which take 4 hours or more to charge and can present a safety risk when charging.
If you are doing the school run and a short commute, a big, heavy battery is just adding unnecessary weight. Plus, costing £600 or more to replace, big batteries present another worry about theft. As well as being fully lockable, Linton batteries are small and light enough to easily take with you anywhere you are worried about theft. If you need to go further than one battery can take you, you can carry as many as necessary for the range you actually need. And when you finally need a new battery, you don’t need to find a specialist cargo bike retailer; you can pop into your nearest DIY store and pick one up or order one online and have it delivered the next day.
Smooth and confidence inspiring electric power assist
In production and continuous improvement for over 12 years, ARCC’s Intelligent Drive System (IDS2) is one of the longest established and most highly regarded e-bike drive systems. It uses a torque sensor to detect how hard you are pedaling, providing smooth and steady electric help when you want it, while avoiding the unexpected and destabilising power surges that can plague cheaper e-bike systems. This confidence-inspiring drive system combines with the Linton’s low weight and comfortable upright riding position to make it feel amazingly like riding a regular bike.
Automatic Hill Assist and Launch Mode
In addition to its remarkable assist technology, the ARCC Bikes also boasts automatic hill assist and launch mode. These features make tackling steep inclines and starting from a stop at traffic lights effortless, allowing you to focus on enjoying your ride. Combined with the Linton’s low weight and comfortable upright riding position, it truly feels just like riding a regular bike.

High, Low and Narrow Front Rack set-ups
We offer a choice of three front racks beautifully manufactured from grade 316 Stainless Steel in our Cambridge factory. Each one can carry a load of up to 25kg.
If you want to haul as much cargo as possible you’ll probably want the High Front Basket. With a capacity of over 40 litres it’s ideal for filling with loose objects or single items up to 33 cm x 41cm x 34 cm. If you want to carry lots of small items you can fit a 26 litre plastic tote bin. If you go with the High Front Basket you won’t be able to fit a front child seat.
If you want to keep your Linton as sleek as possible, whilst being able to attach large objects, the Front Narrow Rack is the way to go. This is the same width as most bicycle rear racks so you can fit a huge rage accessories like panniers and baskets designed for the backs of regular bikes.
If you want a compromise between the two, something you can throw backpacks into, but also attach large objects like prams to, go for the Low-Rise Front Basket.
Wheel Guards and Footplates
If you want to carry kids over five or adults sat on cushions on the rear rack you will need foot plates and wheel guards. The foot plates also provide ideal support for a pair of 50 litre panniers, which when not full can be folded and left on the bike when you are carrying passages.
Safety Frame
If you want added confidence that kids sitting on cushions on the back will not be able to hop off the bike, or added protection for kids strapped into plastic child seats, you can choose the Rear Rack Mounted Safety Frame. This encloses the rear of the bike meaning that kids need to be lifted over the rail to get on or off the bike. It also provides something for them to hold onto while still providing protection for their hands if the bike were to tip over.
Grab Handles and Backrest
If you can trust your kids not to hop off the bike and want to avoid the bulk and inconvenience of the safety rail, you can choose the Front and Rear Passenger Grab Handles, which provide solid handholds for child or adult passengers. The front grab handle is also ideally placed for using when you need to pick up the bike to move it over a level change or reposition the rear wheel.
If you aren’t going for the safety rail, but want a bit more confidence about passengers not being able to get off the back end of the bike, you can choose the Backrest Support Frame. This is compatible with our backrest cushion.
Child Seats
A front child seat that sit behind the handlebars is ideal for carrying babies and toddlers, as they allow you to see and easily communicate with them, whilst giving them the most fantastic view of the world as it whizzes by (the look on a babies face when they first experience riding on a font bicycle seat is truly magical).
They also free up space on the back of the bike for larger children or an adult. Many popular cargo bikes with complicated handlebar designs can’t accommodate these seats but with its conventional steering tube and swept back handlebars the Linton is ideal for them. These are suitable for children aged between nine months and three years.
Unlike some electric cargo bikes, the Linton can comfortably accommodate two child seats mounted on the rear rack whilst still leaving enough room for the rider’s feet to pedal without hitting the front of one of the seats. They are suitable for children up to the age of five and you can mix them with cushions and either grab rails. They are also compatible with the safety rail.
50L Rear Mounted Pannier Bags
The Linton rear rack is compatible with standard rear rack panniers but these extra large 50L Pannier Bags provide a combined capacity of 100 litres and work brilliantly with the footplates.
When empty they fold flat against the side of the bike allowing you to carry passengers on cushions on the rear rack without needing to remove the panniers.
