Electronic and Software Engineer

ARCC is a State-of-the-art R&D center invested in keeping Engineering, Design and Manufacturing in the UK. As well as designing and developing our own products and systems, we also provide mentoring to university graduates, and act as an incubator facility to assist start-ups in establishing and growing their business’s.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Electronics and Software Engineer to join us at ARCC to further develop and support our existing products, as well as work on the design and implementation of future products.

This role will work very closely with the Senior Electronics and Software Engineer.

This position would suit a highly driven, motivated person who can work independently and have great attention to detail. This is an exciting opportunity to join a young and developing company and be involved with the full product life cycle and gain new skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and testing code changes in our current products.
  • Working with management to understand their requirements to feed into developments.
  • Working on the design and development of new products.
  • Contributing to documentation/processes/changes of internal documentation, release notes, user manuals, change requests etc.
  • Compiling BoMs, part selection, part sourcing and ordering
  • Liaising with the internal design teams
  • Creating and maintaining technical and design documentation
  • Carry out safety assessments/risk assessments

Requirements (Essential)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar role
  • Graduate degree in similar technical fields is essential
  • Good programming experience in C/C++ and other languages such as Java
  • Experience of Software and Electronics for Embedded Designs
  • Experience of Software development
  • Good documentation and communication skills.
  • Understanding/Experience in Electronics is essential
  • Experience of wireless connectivity technologies (Bluetooth, GNSS etc)
  • The ability to translate management needs into designs, and designs into electronic systems
  • The ability to work in a fast-moving and dynamic environment.
  • A demonstrable experience of designing, creating, deploying, and maintaining embedded control systems in test rigs and products
  • Highly competent in using test equipment including but not limited to digital multimeters, oscilloscopes and data loggers/analysers
  • The ability to read technical drawings including but not limited to circuit diagrams & PCB schematics
  • The ability to use EDA packages (such as Cadence/Orcad and Altium Designer) to perform schematic capture, PCB layout and simulation
  • A demonstrable experience of electronic system fault-finding
  • An awareness of systems engineering design principles
